About this Workshop:

There are multiple avenues to fundraise for a startup. The media constantly talks about equity financing rounds but there are very few highlights on potential grants and loans that allow you to keep the equity within your company. As we like to say, you only own 100% of your company once in your life! Don’t give it up too easily! We are excited to present the Grants & Loans session where we will have Futurpreneur and the Vaughan Business Enterprise Centre (VBEC) share some options of non-equity financing options for early stage startups!

This workshop aims to cover the following items:

  • The difference between equity financing and debt financing
  • Platforms that enable you to be aware of grants & when they are available i.e. mentorworks and funding portal
  • How to prepare for a grant application & what are the key things to consider (do's and don’ts)
  • Futurpreneur & VBEC’s offerings

Speakers: Faaria Wali, Business Development Manager, Futurpreneur Canada

Lindsay Davidson, Small Business Advisor, City of Vaughan

In addition, he will provide some insights into “Entrepreneurial Burnout” as most often founders are juggling a million things while in market validation such as managing the product development team to incorporate the user feedback, talking to potential customers, and engaging with potential stakeholders. Raphael will share his best tips and tricks for managing burnout and multitasking.
